DAVAO CITY — The Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development recently signed an agreement with four cities and a town in Region 11 for the national housing project of the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. dubbed as Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Program.
The local governments of Mati City, Digos City, Nabunturan, Island Garden City of Samal and Davao City signed the agreement along with Presidential Assistant for Eastern Mindanao Leo Tereso Magno and DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar.
Acuzar said that the 4PH aims to provide decent and affordable houses to the poorest of the poor Filipinos, adding that the partnership is a step to realize the 4PH in their respective cities and town.
"We also did the launching in time of our National Shelter Month celebration and it has signaled the start of our collaboration to provide decent and affordable shelters to the poorest of the poor," Acuzar said.
In February 2023, DHSUD joined hands with OPAMINE for the implementation of 4PH in Mindanao as both offices agreed to help each other in ensuring that the mega-housing project would benefit the homeless especially in OPAMINE's area of Regions 10, 11, 12 and 13.

Meanwhile, Magno said the 4PH is one national program that could help better the lives of the Filipinos especially those who have no shelter.
"In Davao Region alone, we are targeting 380,000 housing units to be distributed to those who are in need. However, we are expecting that this number will increase as soon as people can see the start of the construction of the actual housing project," Magno said.
Over at Mati City, the housing project will be constructed at the two-hectare land in Bilawan donated by the local government of Mati.
The initial plan is for 30 square-meter unit with two bedrooms with no equity and a straight monthly payment of P3,500, payable in 25 years, for those who wanted to avail of the housing project.
