More Filipino songs reach greater heights on global streaming platforms, and this time, Juan Karlos is making history with his newest heartbreak single.

Filipino singer-songwriter Juan Karlos Labajo achieved a historic milestone when his hit single "Ere" became the first Filipino song to debut on Spotify's global chart.

According to chart data's post on X (formerly Twitter), the record-breaking song placed 177th with 1.22 million streams.

"Grateful," Juan Karlos posted on X on 10 October, following his song's success.

"Ere" also broke the all-time single-day stream record for a song on Spotify Philippines by accumulating 1.392 million streams, surpassing Taylor Swift's "Mine" (Taylor's version).

As of 10 October, the single achieved yet another milestone by becoming the first Filipino song in history to break into the top 100 on the global Spotify chart, ranking 87th with 1.45 million streams — jumping 90 spots from its previous ranking.

A live performance of the song, which was posted on YouTube on 23 September, has garnered over three million views and ranked third in the list of trending music on the video-streaming platform.

The 22-year-old singer also featured his single on the 25 September episode of Senior High, a teen-thriller drama wherein he plays one of the lead roles.

Released in August 2023, "Ere" became the second song in Juan Karlos' new album, Sad Songs and Bullshit Part 1. The album also includes the tracks "Sad Songs and Bullshit," "may halaga ba ako sayo??," "Manhid," "Paruparo," "Gabi," featuring Indie singer Zild, "Time Machine," "Lumisan" and "Tapusin Na Natin To" featuring Paulo Benjamin of the folk-pop band Ben&Ben
The nine-track album encapsulates the singer's emotions and pain that he went through during a breakup, which he talked about on an Instagram post on 26 September: "This album originally started out as a compilation of all the love songs that I made for someone whom I gave so much of myself to, a collection of all the words I wrote and the melodies that came along with it."

"Eventually, things didn't turn out the way I hoped for. The songs started to not make any sense. All the songs for love turned into songs for sadness," he added.

The second part of the album, which will feature nine more tracks, will be released in early 2024.
