With only months until the year 2023 ends, the local government of Quezon City has achieved significant accomplishments amid challenges the city and its residents have faced amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
One of the highlights of the local government's achievements is the vaccination program against the deadly respiratory disease.
Quezon City is the first city in the Philippines to vaccinate 70 percent of its adult population against Covid-19. The city has also started vaccinating children aged five to 11 years old.
The local government has also provided financial assistance to residents and businesses affected by the pandemic and launched several programs to support the city's economic recovery.
In terms of infrastructure, the Quezon City government has completed several major projects this year, including the construction of new schools, hospitals and roads. It has also started construction on the Metro Rail Transit Line 7, which will connect Quezon City to other parts of Metro Manila.

The Quezon City government has made significant progress in its environmental programs this year as it spearheaded the planting of thousands of trees and has launched several initiatives to reduce waste and pollution.
It likewise partnered with key national government agencies to provide better services to its citizens, among them is the establishment of the bike lane along the sections of the Elliptical Road and Commonwealth Avenue.
The expansion of active and public transport infrastructures includes the construction of 2-kilometer bike lanes and 10 public utility vehicle stops as well as sidewalk improvement.
About three million Quezon City residents are expected to benefit from the transport project.
