The Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in the Philippines has recently opened a consulate office in Palawan which is dedicated to providing various services and support to Danish citizens who live, work, or visit the province.
The inauguration ceremony of the consulate was overseen by Ambassador Franz-Michael Skjold Melbinn and Honorary Consul Christian Eyde Moeller on Thursday afternoon at the FD Building in Barangay San Miguel, Puerto Princesa City.
Melbinn highlighted the essential role of the consular office in international relations, ensuring the protection of Danish citizens' rights and interests, whether they are in Palawan for a short visit or a longer stay.
Moreover, the consulate will actively engage in activities such as cultural and educational exchanges, tourism promotion and the strengthening of cultural ties between Denmark and the Philippines.
"First and foremost, it's a little piece of Denmark — if you lose your belongings or if your passport is stolen, and if you get sick, the consulate can help you," Melbinn said.
The consulate in Palawan is their third, in addition to those in Cebu and Davao.
Melbinn also said that having a consulate in the province will encourage fellow nationals to visit because it will help them learn more about the locale.
