Japan hit six three-point shots in the first period on its way to finishing the quarter with 35 points against Gilas Pilipinas' women's team.

Those big investments were enough for the Japanese in completing a convincing 96-59  triumph in the Asian Games basketball competition at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium Sunday.

Averaging 104 points in the first two games, Japan didn't only show its offensive prowess in giving the Philippines a sound beating, but the Japanese also displayed their resiliency on the defensive end.

Their on-ball defense, their timely switching which baffled their counterparts, disrupted the screen and roll game anchored on main front liner Jack Animam.

Japan's longer reach and more active hands, made things more difficult for the Filipinas to send the ball inside to Animam.

On the other hand, the Japanese didn't waste any opportunity each time there's a breakdown on the defense of the Philippines as they either hit shots from almost everywhere while taking advantage of every Filipina miscue with a solid transition game.
