BMW Philippines has officially introduced the all-new M2, completing its M lineup in the country.
This high-performance coupe, known for its compact size and powerful engine, has entered its second generation and is now available for local enthusiasts and Bimmer aficionados.
The M2 is available in two distinct variants for the Philippine market: The M2 Coupe Pure and the M2 Coupe Carbon.
The Pure, considered the "entry-level" model, offers a straightforward approach. It features standard aluminum trim on the dashboard, manual sport seats, and a basic sound system.
However, it doesn't compromise on performance. The Pure comes equipped with the Active M Differential, M Traction Control, large brakes, a unique suspension setup, an electronically controlled exhaust system with flaps, and a robust cooling system for both oil and coolant.
The Carbon variant, on the other hand, brings additional flair with carbon fiber elements both inside and out.
The most noticeable exterior feature is its carbon fiber roof. The interior boasts more carbon fiber panels, complemented by the M division's signature colors of light blue, dark blue and red.
This variant also offers deep leather-trimmed bucket seats that are power-operated. Additionally, the M2 Carbon comes with heated seats and the M Driver's Package, which increases the speed limit from 250 km/h to 285 km/h.
An upgraded Harman/Kardon sound system rounds out the Carbon's enhanced offerings.
Both variants are powered by a 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged inline-six engine, delivering an impressive 453 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque.
While the standard transmission is an eight-speed automatic, there's also an option for a manual transmission available through special order. Performance-wise, the automatic variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, while the manual takes a slightly longer 4.3 seconds.
The exterior design of the 2024 BMW M2 is a nod to its performance capabilities. It features a prominent kidney grille, sharp LED headlamps, and large central air intakes. Its long hood, angular silhouette, and sloped rear end emphasize its sporty nature. Riding on 19-inch M alloy wheels in the front and 20-inch at the rear, the M2 ensures a commanding presence on the road.
The rear showcases a quad exhaust setup, an angular bumper, LED taillights, and a modest boot lid spoiler.
Inside, the M2 offers a cockpit reminiscent of a high-performance aircraft. The BMW Live Cockpit Plus displays essential information on a 12.3-inch digital driver display, which is voice-responsive.
A 14.9-inch touchscreen provides smartphone integration, either connected to a Harman Kardon surround sound system or a HiFi sound system, depending on the chosen trim. A wireless smartphone charging pad is also included for added convenience.
Safety hasn't been overlooked. Both M2 variants come equipped with a comprehensive safety kit, including multiple airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchors, anti-lock braking and stability control.
For those interested in making the M2 their next purchase, the M2 Coupe Carbon is priced at P8,890,000, while the M2 Coupe Pure is available for P5,990,000. Both come with a five-year or 200,000-kilometer warranty, ensuring long-term peace of mind for owners.
