The Cebu City Police Office revealed on Thursday that at least 1,317 gun owners surrendered their unrenewed license to own and possess firearms in the cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu.
CCPO director Police Colonel Ireneo Dalogdog said the intensified " Oplan Katok" or Operation Plan Knock forced the gun owners to yield their firearms to the police.
"This is the result of our intensified Oplan Katok in relation to the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections on 30 October as members of the police are visiting the addresses of gun owners who have not renewed their registration or license and asked them to surrender their units," Dalogdog said.
