PAOMBONG, Bulacan — The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources has sent 900,000 bangus fingerlings to aquafarm operators in Paombong, Bulacan. The fingerlings were sourced from the Saranggani Fry Finfish Hatchery in coordination with the BFAR.
The distribution of the fingerlings was held at the Municipal covered court of Paombong. Local officials and members of the community took part in the occasion.
BFAR Regional Director Wilfredo Cruz lauded the Municipal Agriculture Office for the seamless distribution of the fingerlings to the aquafarm operators.
Cruz said that the donation is expected to help the aquafarm operators recover from the damages caused by the recent typhoons.
He added that the distribution is part of the BFAR's thrust to establish a robust fishing industry for the country's food security.
The bangus fingerlings are expected to reach maturity in about six months. The aquafarm operators are hopeful that the distribution will have a positive effect on their businesses.
