DAVAO CITY — The Davao City Police Office has urged the Davawenyos on Wednesday to report rice vendors found to violate the newly mandated price caps on rice.
DCP spokesperson Capt. Hazel Tuazon said that the Philippine National Police — along with other law enforcement agencies — are mandated to assist in the full implementation of the presidential order by apprehending violators.
"We are mandated to assist the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Agriculture to ensure that the price cap is followed," Tuazon said.
To recall, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on 31 August signed Executive Order 39 mandating the retail price ceiling for rice in the market and under the EO, the price ceiling for regular milled rice is capped at P41 per kilogram, while well-milled rice is set at P45 per kilogram.
