Senator Raffy Tulfo has filed a measure that, if passed into law, would prevent elementary and secondary public schools from collecting contributions from students.
Tulfo said Senate Bill 2440 seeks to eliminate the barriers, including the collection of mandatory contributions, that hinder the enrollment and retention of students.
He said burdening poor students attending public schools with extra fees would only discourage them from pursuing their studies.
With his bill, the senator said poor families would no longer have to face out-of-pocket school expenses, thus promoting inclusivity and equal opportunities in education.
