Carl Jammes Martin will be going for the knockout when he battles Oscar Duge of Tanzania in a 10-round bantamweight clash on 19 August at the Mandaluyong Sports Complex.

Martin, who won via knockout 17 times in his 21 victories, is making sure that he and his coach and father, Abel Martin, will be able to find the right blend that will crush that Tanzanian pug, who sports an 11-5-2 win-loss-draw

record.

Martin's recent match was impressive as he scored a second-round knockout of Komgrich Nantapech of Thailand last 17 December at the CCDC Gym in La Trinidad, Benguet.

He was supposed to face Japanese puncher Jun Ikegawa on 13 May but called it off due to rib injury.

"He hasn't been knocked out in his fights. Our target is for me to be the first boxer to knock him out. That's our goal," Martin, 24, said during the weekly Philippine Sportswriters Association forum at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

"We added another coach, my brother Japeth Martin, to analyze what round we will be able to get the knockout."

From 2017 to 2021, Duge lost five times by razor-thin margin. He bowed via unanimous decision to Bangile Nyangani of South Africa, majority decision to compatriots Mustafa K Mkupasi and Hashimu Zuberi, another unanimous decision to Nikolai Potapovof Russia and a split decision to Charles Tondo of Tanzania.

Martin's older brother, Japeth, said they are going to be careful against Duge.

"We couldn't say if it will be a knockout win but we are making the most out of the training so that if he does get that knockout, it will do good on Jammes' rankings," the older Martin said.
