That forced Gilas Pilipinas coaching staff to insert the other deserving players who were able to crack the final 12 rosters in time for the team's game against Malaysia on 9 May at 1 p.m. to be held at the Morodok Techo National Stadium Elephant Hall 2 here.

"They have injuries," said Gilas Pilipinas head coach Chot Reyes. "That's why they couldn't make the trip. Aaron had issues with his meniscus, this time, it's the other knee. Jeremiah, on the other hand, is still recovering from the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) he suffered. He was still not 100% during the championship series against TNT."

Ben Phillips, brother of Michael, was the only reserve player to make the trip.

Members of the Gilas team arrived Sunday morning from Manila and even wrapped up their training Saturday morning.

They were scheduled to train Sunday evening, according to team manager Butch Antonio.
