Instead of fighting a Thai on local soil, Jerwin Ancajas will instead set up camp in the United States as the former world champion plots his return to the big time.

Ancajas, who reigned for over six years as International Boxing Federation super-flyweight king, was supposed to do an activity fight next month in Imus, Cavite, but it was later agreed that it would be better if he relocates to America.

Ancajas and chief trainer cum manager Joven Jimenez are tentatively scheduled to fly to America on 11 January.

"I think that's a better plan because it would provide lots of opportunities for Jerwin to get better and receive solid training because of the availability of sparring partners," Jimenez said.
The fighter himself agreed.

"Yes, sparring will be great because I will get to work with the other Filipino boxers who are more or less my size," Ancajas said, noting that he would eventually be training under one roof with the likes of fellow ex-world champ Marlon Tapales, Vincent Astrolabio and Jade Bornea.

The three US-based fighters are also revving up for their respective world title attempts.

MP Promotions head Sean Gibbons is in the process of building a gym in Las Vegas that will house everyone involved with the Manny Pacquiao-owned outfit.

"This is going to be a one-stop shop," Gibbons said during the birthday celebration of Ancajas Wednesday night at the Mall of Asia.
