The Federation of Associations of Private Schools and Administrators on Friday is urging teachers to help ease the growing anxiety of students caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
FAPSA chairman Eleazardo Kasilag said that they are reminding teachers to engage in mor social activities to help mitigate the growing anxiety of students being away from friends and normal routines, of course, with all the vital protocols.
Kasilag, who owns St. Nicholas School in Marikina City, said that pandemic continues to haunt learners even in the New Year.
"The school administrators this coming year still need to be extra understanding, tolerant and forgiving of our school kids with absences, strange behavior or happenings in the campus. Our kids continue to be adversely impacted by the pandemic," said Kasilag.
"On the way to the market, weeks ago, I witnessed a mother pulling her 7-year old frightened boy to school as he was clutching on the public school-grilled gate clearly showing unusual agitation to go back to school. My wife said that scene was common in the preschool but not among graders," he added.
The FAPSA chair added that students still bear the scars of the pandemic where students have shifted to online and blended learning.
"But we have to realize pandemic took two years of our schools' in person classes. The behavior of that kid also regressed and his mental age, owing to online schooling, has been affected," said Kasilag.
