The Manila International Airport Authority has advised the about 30 airlines operating at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport to open their check-in counters on time or even earlier to facilitate travel during the holidays.
MIAA General Manager Cesar Chiong met representatives of the airline companies and told them passengers coming in three hours before their international flights and two hours for domestic travel would be useless if the counters do not open on time.
He urged the airlines to adopt measures that would ease the congestion of passengers in the lobby areas of the various NAIA terminals being overseen by the MIAA.
Chiong said they expect an influx of passengers at the end of the holiday season as vacationers would be returning for work or school. He said the check-in processes should be made more efficient and swift.
The MIAA chief it is important to create hassle-free airport experiences for visitors and departing passengers to encourage other foreigners to also visit the Philippines.
