BAGUIO CITY — The Philippine Air Force Tactical Operations Group 1, together with the Cordillera Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council employed bambi bucket operations to suppress the forest fired in areas of Itogon and Bokod in Benguet.
Initial reports said that the forest blaze started on 22 December and during the operation, the personnel of both agency hauled volumes of water from the nearby Ambuklao Dam using containers suspended to helicopters to reach the mountainous part where the fires are.
According to the Bokod Fire Protection, the fires were totally out at 2 p.m. while Itogon Fire Protection also declared that the fire in their area was also put out in the afternoon of 22 December.
Other agencies from the private as well as government sector are still monitoring the areas to ensure that the fire will never start again.
