Two additional facilities at the Lualhati ng Maynila home for senior citizens and the Manila Boystown are now ready for opening, Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna said yesterday.
The newly constructed units were inaugurated by Manila Department of Social Welfare chief Re Fugoso in simple ceremonies recently.
Lacuna thanked those who sponsored the construction of the two new houses for the seniors, including Philippine Racing Commission chairman Reli de Leon and Senator Koko Pimentel.
With the two new homes, the original structure housing the elderly wards will be decongested, said Fugoso, whose department is presently taking care of 400 seniors, 30 kids, 110 at the Girls Home and 140 at the Boys' Home.
The city is also taking care of 350 street dwellers.
