COTABATO CITY — The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao has recently showcased its flagship programs and projects at the sideline of the 25th Brunei-Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area Ministerial Meeting in Indonesia.
Cabinet ministers of the Bangsamoro government represented BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim as they presented programs and projects of the regional government while representing their respective sectors in the ministerial meetings held on the last week of November in Pontianak City.
Among the discussed registered projects include Barter Trade, Marawi Sustainable City, Turtle Islands Wildlife Sanctuary Eco-Tourism promotion and co-management and renewable energy investment.
The Cabinet ministers also discussed in subregional meetings the flagship projects enunciated by the Chief Minister such as the Integrated Bangsamoro Greening Program on combating climate change, energy connectivity, adaptation to rapid technological disruption, food security and economic recovery from the impact of Covid-19 pandemic.
The delegation included Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform Mohammad Yacob, Minister of Environment, Natural, Resource and Energy Akmad Brahim and Minister of Trade, Investment and Tourism Abu Amri Taddik.
Also with the delegation were Menre Bangsamoro Director-General, Atty. Badr Salendab, Forest Management Services Director Abdul-Jalil Umngan, and MTIT Director Hussien Biruar.
The 25th BIMP-EAGA Ministerial Meeting is seeking to shift economic activities from resource extraction to higher levels of processing and value-added production and growth in trade, investment and tourism, as well as promoting environmental and socio-cultural education.
