The Department of Health on Thursday submitted to the Commission on Audit or CoA documents related to the multibillion-peso Covid-19 vaccine procurement deals of the national government.
Health Officer-in-Charge Maria Rosario Vergeire personally presented the documents to comply with the special audit of the CoA.
"The Department of Health is ready to face any questions about our vaccine procurement because we are confident that all the processes carried out by our government in the purchase of vaccines to protect the public are in accordance with the law," Vergeire said.
Likewise, she stressed that the alleged non-compliance of the health department to the special audit will not affect the national government's vaccination rollout against Covid-19.
Vergeire submitted the documents after she and several Cabinet members of former President Rodrigo Duterte attended the motu proprio hearing of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.
The panel, headed by Senator Francis Tolentino, launched its own investigation in connection with the supposed non-disclosure clause embedded in the acquisition of Covid-19 vaccines.
During the hearing, Former vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. stressed that only the CDA or confidential disclosure agreement that the government signed with pharmaceutical companies is not allowed to be discussed in public.
CoA chair Gamaliel Cordoba previously told lawmakers that the health department has repeatedly refused to submit all the documents related to the government's procurements of Covid-19 vaccines.
