As part of its thrust to continue developing smart and sustainable infrastructure solutions in the country, Aboitiz InfraCapital is exploring bringing world-class water treatment technologies to the Philippines in collaboration with Singapore-based technology partner Keppel Infrastructure.
The multinational company is the builder of the landmark Keppel Marina East Desalination Plant in Singapore. With an innovative design that locates the water treatment facility underground, the plant offers a lush green rooftop that serves as an ideal venue for community recreation.
AIC has submitted an unsolicited proposal to supply the Metro Cebu Water District with 30 million liters per day of desalinated bulk water.
It intends to utilize Keppel Infrastructure's expertise and technologies in building and operating a desalination plant in the province wherein raw saltwater will be treated using reverse osmosis water treatment technology to produce safe drinking water.
State-of-the-art technology
With the proposed state -of-the-art reverse osmosis technology to treat raw seawater, AIC intends to help the MCWD address its current water challenges by offering a reliable and alternative water source that can provide sustainable, safe, and clean drinking water to Cebuanos.
"Aboitiz InfraCapital is eager to bring to Cebu this leading technology and world-class expertise to help address the city's huge demand for clean, safe and, sustainable drinking water," said AIC president and CEO Cosette Canilao.
She added, "With this facility which is designed in such a way where technology is in harmony with the environment, we hope to provide Cebuanos better access to water to meet their present and future needs."
