A total of 307 captured, confiscated, surrendered and recovered firearms were destroyed at the headquarters of the Philippine Army's 6th Infantry Division in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao on 9 December, the Armed Forces of the Philippines said on Sunday.
The said firearms captured, confiscated, surrendered and recovered in Central Mindanao from January to December by the 6ID were disassembled and burned during a ceremony highlighting the visit of the AFP Chief of Staff Bartolome Vicente O. Bacarro in the headquarters.
According to Bacarro, the said ceremony may just look like an ordinary activity but it has an effect on the community.
He said they were able to remove firearms from the hands of the bad people that may cause harm to the public.
"As we demilitarize these firearms, we contribute to the attainment of a peaceful community as we aim towards economic improvement and development," Bacarro said during the ceremony.
