The city government of Caloocan has received the Gawad Kalasag Seal of Excellence for the "Fully Compliant" rating of the Caloocan Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
The award was conferred by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, reflective of Caloocan being "generally adherent" to the standards for local councils.
Caloocan's local government unit thanked the NDRRMC for recognizing its CDRRMO in line with the latter's innovations in disaster preparedness.
"We are working hard to ensure that Caloocan is prepared for any disaster, with all the members of the CDRRMO, led by their Chief of Office Dr. James Lao and Action Officer Alex Nadurata," Mayor Along Malapitan said.
Malapitan has ordered its CDRRMO to train first responders to respond promptly during calamities. In all, eight quick response stations had been deployed in the city's three districts.
