Time Cargo bet survives slip into ravine

Manfred Guangko had a near-death experience at Camp John Hay Golf Club on Wednesday after slipping into a deep ravine below the par-3 sixth hole.

"It was like slow motion as I contemplated death," recalled the 55-year-old engineer who slid head first.

Fortunately, a small tree branch stopped his fall. Save for a bruised ego and soiled shirt, he came out ruffled but otherwise fine.

Guangko had earlier missed the green on the right, his ball sitting near the edge of the plateau.

While planting his right foot on a tree branch, he lost his balance and landed on his back.

Playing for Time Cargo Logistics, Guangko picked up on that hole and proceeded to make four straight pars.

He fell for the second time while recounting the accident to friends on the tee mound of the par-3 15th.

Guangko rose and proceeded to reach the green in regulation for par. He had four pickups and did not count with 25 points.

"I probably would have survived but I will suffer serious injuries, that's for sure," he said.
