The Manila Police District warned establishment owners on the new modus being perpetrated by extortion syndicates after a mysterious bag was left beside the ATM machine in PNB Sunday afternoon in Binondo.

Initial reports disclosed that a complaint call was received by the MPD-Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit at 2:50 p.m. regarding an abandoned backpack and witnesses said that an individual wearing a white shirt, blue denim pants and a mask left the bag.

Upon the arrival of the EOD team, a water disruptor was used to douse the bag to ensure no incendiaries will spark.

Investigators found out and confirmed that there was no bomb inside the bag.

According to MPD spokesperson P/Major Phillip Ines, the incident only intended to shame the MPD as found out inside the bag were only wire cable and cardboard.
