BSWM conducts hands-on training for benefactors

The Bureau of Soils and Water Management of the Department of Agriculture has recently conducted a hands-on training for its Composting Facility for Biodegradable Waste Operation.

The DA-BSWM, in partnership with the R.U. Foundry and Machine Shop Corporation, conducted the hands-on Training on the Operation and Maintenance of R.U. Biodegradable Shredder Machine and Rotary Composter for its CFBW Project for 2022 last 1 December at the compound of the DA-BSWM in Diliman, Quezon City.

According to BSWM OIC-Assistant Director Bernardo Pascua, the knowledge from this training is expected to transcend to the farmers-beneficiaries of the CFBW Project.

In addition, he shared the importance of this training for overall implementation of the CFBW Project.

Pascua said that the CFBW project aims to minimize the fertilizer expenditures of the farmers by producing their own organic fertilizer, at the same time, increasing the crop production and promoting healthier soil and proper solid waste management in the country.

It was learned that the R.U. Biodegradable Shredder Machine and Rotary Composter is manufactured in the country, thus helping the country to save on its foreign reserves.

At the same time, the maintenance of the machines is easier since they are locally-produced and especially built for the different terrains of the country.

Since the said machines are manufactured in the country, the farmer-beneficiaries will be having easier instructions to follow regarding the operations of the farm implements.
