According to Lacuna, it is part of the city government’s efforts to promote tourism now that Covid-19-related restrictions are being eased

The local government of Manila is mulling to find at least one product that will be synonymous to the city of Manila, similar to Davao being known for durian, Guimaras for its sweet mangoes and Cebu for its lechon.
Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna disclosed that she is currently in discussion with concerned individuals and getting opinions on what products will be best identified with the city, that its mere mention would automatically make one think of Manila.
"Manila has actually no product that the city can associate with, so we are discussing what can be done for us to have one identifying product," Lacuna said.
According to Lacuna, it is part of the city government's efforts to promote tourism now that Covid-19-related restrictions are being eased.
"Our designated tourism hubs do not only involve promoting places but also activities and festivities, even goods," Lacuna said.
She added that the city government of Manila has already begun training tourist guides and calesa owners while Manila representatives are also being tapped as they have signified their willingness to support and assist the local government in boosting its tourism.
Lacuna cited that for one, third district Congressman Joel Chua has already signified his intention to help in developing tourist areas in the district he represents.
Apart from developing the "Quiapo Ilalim" which has always been the destination of those seeking various kinds of native products both local and international tourists alike, Lacuna said that Chua has also vowed to develop the Muslim area in Quiapo.
Meanwhile, Lacuna also announced that a 'walking tour' route or guide is being prepared by the city for the visitors of Manila, to include the Arroceros Park which she said now has a viewing deck overlooking the Quezon Bridge.
