SMB knocks rival TNT out of the playoffs

In a rematch of the recent Philippine Cup finale, San Miguel Beer beat TNT — only this time, the Beermen showed the Tropang Giga the exit door of the PBA Commissioner's Cup with a 119-99 demolition job on 26 November at the Philsports Arena.

The Beermen displayed their balanced firepower but found a better way to stop the Tropang Giga by shackling down top playmaker and gunner Mikey Williams.

Williams was held down to just two points on a miserable 1-of-11 shooting in 21 minutes of play, as the Tropang Giga suffered their fourth straight loss and ended their campaign with a 4-8 record.

TNT is out of the playoffs for the first time in seven straight conferences. The Tropang Giga, finalists in four of the seven times they've been in the playoffs, won last season's Philippine Cup when Chot Reyes returned as mentor of the team.

San Miguel has notched its third straight victory and moved up to fifth place at 6-5.

The scores:
SAN MIGUEL 119 – Scott 28, Perez 17, Manuel 16, Enciso 15, Lassiter 12, Fajardo 12, Cruz 11, Brondial 4, Zamar 2, Ross 2, Canete 0, Faundo 0

TNT 99 – Pogoy 23, K.Williams 18, Mobley 18, Tungcab 12, Soyud 11, Marcelo 6, Cruz 3, M.Williams 2, Oftana 2, Khobuntin 2, Heruela 2, Ganuelas-Rosser 0
