The Commission on Elections on Wednesday announced that it is seeking to improve operations and information technology infrastructure which will be used for the implementation of the "Register Anywhere" scheme starting December 2022.
The poll body is set to commence the pilot implementation of the new voter registration scheme every weekend from 17 December to 29 January next year, except on holidays.
Comelec chairperson George Erwin Garcia and commissioner Rey Bulay led the initial demonstration of the new voter registration scheme last Friday with the goal of calibrating the process before the scheduled public use.
Comelec spokesperson Atty. John Rex Laudiangco, meantime, said that they are seeking to improve the IT aspect of the new scheme.
"As we know, aside from the operational processes, the Register Anywhere Project is largely dependent on current IT infrastructure and resources," Laudiangco said.
Laudiangco also said that the Comelec aims to address possible issues on applicant queues and crowd control at on-site "Register Anywhere" booths as the pilot implementation of the scheme will coincide with the regular voting schedule from 9 December to 31 January next year.
