The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority sent a 28-man team on Thursday to Maguindanao to assist local residents affected by landslides and widespread flooding during the onslaught of severe tropical storm "Paeng."
MMDA acting chairperson Romando Artes disclosed that the deployment was in response to the order of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to prioritize delivering supplies of drinking water to the typhoon victims in the province.
The acting chairperson said the team is composed of personnel from the Public Safety Division, adding that the team will set up water purifiers in various communities with limited to no supply of clean water.
Artes said some personnel will also help in the ongoing operations to clear the roads affected by massive flooding and landslides.

Artes said the MMDA team brought with them 40 units of portable water purification systems, which have the capacity of filtering 180 gallons of water per hour, and some materials for road clearing operations.
The team was directed to coordinate with the 6th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army and stay in Maguindanao province for a period of 15 days.
