
The Federation of Asian Bishops Conference is calling for the Catholic Church to intensify its provision of services to the Asian Catholics in the region following its General Conference in Bangkok, Thailand on Sunday.
The FABC recently celebrated its 50th year of existence with the theme "Journeying together as Peoples of Asia," with the goal of energizing the Church while looking for new ways of providing service to the Catholic community.
"It was a fruitful time of praying, listening, discerning and encouraging each other. It was also a moment of healing from the pain caused by the Covid-19 Pandemic," FABC president and Yangon Cardinal Charles Maung Bo said.
The conference revolved around discussions on the plight of various sectors of society, as well as challenges on extremism, violence and other societal challenges that people face today.
"In prayer and in a spirit of collaboration, we desire to respond to these challenges by relying on the power of love, compassion, justice and forgiveness. We believe that peace and reconciliation is the only way forward," the statement read.
Also, the FABC sought to address these issues through continuous service and support to various communities sectors of society, as well as a "pastoral and ecological conversion" and ways to listen to "genuine dialogue."
