The Department of Energy is cranking up a campaign to implement energy efficiency and conservation measures to help reduce electricity consumption.
During a virtual energy forum on Friday, Energy Secretary Raphael Perpetuo Lotilla said government offices, private companies, and local government units should initiate energy conservation in their respective offices.
Apart from this, Lotilla said the DoE is also "aggressively pursuing the development and adoption of alternative fuels and emerging technologies to reduce our dependence on imported fuel, especially in the transport sector."
The DoE has rolled out the Energy Virtual One-Stop Shop or EVOSS to allow online submission of applications in DOE initially for renewable energy and power projects.
Other agencies and entities are also on board the pursuit such as the National Power Corporation, National Electrification Administration, National Transmission Corporation, Department of Labor and Employment, National Commission on Indigenous Peoples, Department of Justice, Independent Electricity Market Operator, and the local government of Bay, Laguna.
According to the Energy chief, the agency is also working with other concerned agencies and entities to fully provide a one-stop shop in the energy sector.
"I wish to stress the President's marching order for us at DOE and our partner agencies in the government to ensure a level playing field. With these developments, we encourage investors to work with us in steering the energy industry toward a cleaner, greener, reliable, and more sustainable future," Lotilla reiterated.
