Two members of Pasig City police sub-station 7 were arrested for robbery-extortion in an entrapment operation in Barangay San Miguel, Pasig City Monday evening.

The two cops were identified as P/SMs. Michael Familara, 47; and P/Cpl. Nathaniel San Buenaventura Campo, 30. Also nabbed in the operation were two civilians identified as John Carlo Zapanta and Carl Anito.

According to Pasig police chief P/Col. Celerino Sacro Jr., the four suspects allegedly extorted money from a 38-year-old woman whom they accused of being a pusher.

According to a report to Sacro, the two cops forcibly entered on 18 October the house of one Maricel Opiana and arrested her for alleged violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Opiana complained that the cops took her money amounting to P10,000 and did not even spare the piggybank of her daughter.

She said the suspects brought her near the Pasig City police station but did not detain her. Instead, she was asked to produce P100,000 for her freedom. The amount demanded was later reduced to P10,000 she said.

Opiana first sent P6,000 via GCash. The suspects were arrested by Pasig and Camp Crame operatives when they received the P4,000 marked money.

Two pistols, a Glock and a Taurus, were seized from the cops.

"We do not condone the wrongdoings of all violators in our area of responsibility, all the more our personnel who go astray in the call of their duties," Sacro said.
