Airline pilot Allan Bumagat is flying high following a sweep of the Tagaytay Highlands and Midlands crowns against separate final opponents.
The 30-year-old Filipino trounced Raymond Sangil, 4 and 3, last week at the Highlands.
On Wednesday, Bumagat blasted Edcel Opolencia, 7 and 5, in the 36-hole final at the Midlands.
The former La Salle varsity player won both titles on his first try.
Against Opolencia, he was 3-under through 31 holes.
It was a remarkable achievement for someone who barely touches his clubs.
Due to his hectic schedule — he flies five times a week — Bumagat said he manages to squeeze in two rounds on the course and three times on the range a month.
He said he maintains a plus 1.1 handicap.
Bumagat said he would have wanted to play in the Fil-Am Invitational next month, but being a peak season, he could not take a leave.
However, he said he will play for Tagaytay Highlands in the Philippine Airlines Interclub golf team championships in February next year.
Bumagat also won the inaugural Manila Golfers Union Cup last September.
In other finals, Clarence Gammad beat Patrick Gregore in Class A while Tomas Yap defeated Michael Antonio in Class B.
In Class C, Tomas Yap II edged Jacky Quintos while Dan Salvador edged Wan Ren Qun in the senior division.
Arsenic Laurel won the super senior title at the expense of Robert Umali.
In ladies' action, Abby Lapid outplayed Gilda Medestomas in Class A while Stephanie Yap bested Karen Cabalquinto in Class B.
The junior crown went to Gian de Castro who tripped Andrei Lina.
