Carlo Biado was the lone Filipino player standing after the quarterfinal round of the 2022 US Open 9-Ball Championships ended Friday at Harrah's Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

It was an overpowering performance for Biado, who blanked Chinese Taipeh's Hsieh Chia Chen, 10-0, to make the semifinals.

The victory put Biado's title-retention quest in place as he battles Spanish entry Francisco Sanchez Ruiz in the Final Four.

Sanchez also advanced after clipping Alex Kazakis, 10-8.

The other semis pairing will pit Austrian Max Lechner against Taiwanese Ko Ping Chung.

Biado, actually, was in the company of two other Filipino bets in the Last 16.

But Lee Van Corteza and Roland Garcia got eliminated in their attempt to crash the elite four.

Chris Melling of the United Kingdom dealt Corteza a 10-2 beating while Lechner handed Garcia a 10-5 shellacking.

Unlike Corteza and Garcia, Biado, 38, was simply too good to be taken down.

Biado subdued Poland's Konrad Juszczyszyn, 10-7.

The champion wins $50,000 while the runnerup gets $25,000 and the losing semifinalists $13,500 each. The quarterfinalists are assured $6,750 apiece and Last 16 players pocket $4,250.

Those who made it just into the Last 32 earn $2,750 and the Last 64 cast numbering 32 settle for $1,750 each.
