BAGUIO CITY — The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office is now recommending that the town of Allacapan in Cagayan Province be declared under state of calamity as most parts of the town are under flood waters due to the heavy rainfall brought by the weather disturbance "Maymay."
During an aerial inspection of Allacapan Mayor Harry Florida, many barangays — including wide rice farms — are flooded as of in the morning of 13 October 2022.
On 12 October 2022, an irrigation canal of the National Irrigation Administration-East Apayao Abulug washed out Allacapan town and on the same day, the main gate of the irrigation system of the NIA-EAA in Sta. Marcela, Apayao was also washed out.
Twelve municipalities of Cagayan declared suspension of classes in all level in their respective areas of responsibility. Eight other municipalities suspended classes in certain levels.
Meantime, the municipal government of Baggao through its MDRRMO imposed a force evacuation to the residents of Barangay Taytay of the town. Such force evacuation was conducted as treats of landslides were observed because of the heavy rains brought by "Maymay."
Rescuers and MDRRMO personnel retrieved a body of a fisherman who went fishing despite the heavy rains and strong sea current. He believed to have drowned at Buguey town, Cagayan. MDRRMO of Sta. Ana town also retrieved a body of another fisherman.
