The newly-formed Sikaran-Karate Association of the Philippines formally elected its new set of officers that will handle the grassroots operations for the next five years.

In an election held on 21 September at the Manila Hotel, SIKAP elected banker Manny Inserto as national president, training instructor and head coach of its youth program nationwide.

Aside from Inserto, also elected were Homer Mesina as secretary general, Boy Eli Jr., as vice president for Luzon, Rene Caling as vice president for Visayas, and Chito Bautista as vice president for Mindanao.

All vice presidents were given the rank of chief instructor and coach.

Atty. Felipe Iledan Jr., was named as adviser of the association, which used to be known as Sikaran Karate Club of the Philippines with 3,000 members nationwide.

Meanwhile, Inserto, the vice president and treasurer of Bangko ng Kabuhayan and past president of Rotary Club of Bagumbayan-Manila, awarded complimentary copies of his book — Karate: Workout for Seniors and Non-Seniors at home during Covid-19 — to all newly-elected officers.

Inserto stressed that proceeds of the sales of his book will be donated to RCBM projects particularly to its charitable and community works while half will be given as subsidy to poor families.
