The Quezon City local government unit has put together a task force that will focus on and provide protection to minors against forced labor and exploitation.
According to the city government, through the "Task Force Sampaguita", it will provide protection to minors and provide target-specific programs to their parents.
This was signed by the mayor under Executive Order No. 41 series of 2022 in response to the noticeable increase in children selling on the street.
"Due to the difficulty of life, some young people are forced to dedicate their time to work instead of studying. The city government is here to support and support their family by providing various help and services," according to to Mayor Joy Belmonte.
The mayor will also serve as the chairman of the Task Force while Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Head Rogelio Reyes will be the Co-chairperson.
Social Services Development Department (SSDD) Head Fe Macale will stand as Vice-chairperson.
At the same time, the local government encouraged the public to report street children to them at the QC Hotline 122 to avoid child labor.
