President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has cited the crucial role of private organizations in achieving the government's bid for infrastructure development and digital transformation.

"In seeking and employing the best solutions for our people, let us be open to all the latest innovations, new ideas, and fresh perspectives," Marcos said during the mass oath-taking of newly elected officers and directorate members of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines at Malacañang Palace in Manila.

The President asked local leaders to improve their performance by adopting the latest technology trends and taking new approaches, noting that there is always room for growth and opportunities.

Marcos advised the local chief executives to welcome partnerships with the private sector.

"Let us include private partnerships to maximize the service that we give to the people. Let us use that to implement critical projects in each locality, especially those related to infrastructure and digitalization," Marcos said.

At the national level, the Marcos administration has created the Private Sector Advisory Council, which is composed of several business leaders.

Marcos assured that the local government units have the national government's full support as it prepares for the full transfer of responsibilities.

Talks that bear fruits

As its annual business conference nears, the country's largest business organization, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is also looking forward to discussions with President Marcos' economic team.

According to PCCI president George Barcelon, the business community is looking forward to having a fruitful dialogue with the government's economic managers and cabinet executives on how to move the country forward and sustain its growth momentum following a two-year slowdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
