Model Deniece Cornejo requested the court to immediately transfer TV host and actor Vhong Navarro from the custody of the National Bureau of Investigation to the Taguig City Jail on Friday.
According to Cornejo, this is because the actor does not deserve any special treatment.
"It is respectfully prayed that the instant Manifestation with Urgent Motion be resolved urgently, and that the Honorable Court issue and Order directing the proper officer of the National Bureau of Investigation Detention Center to immediately transfer the accused, from the National Bureau of Investigation Detention Center to Taguig City Jail," part of the petition filed by Cornejo's camp in the Taguig City Regional Trial Court Branch 69.
"The Rules of Court provide that the arresting officer should bring the accused to the nearest police station or jail without unnecessary delay. The law does not provide that the accused should be brought to the NBI. Furthermore, the only persons who may be detained at the National Bureau of Investigation are those arrested for in flagrante delicto," he added.
It can be recalled that Navarro is facing two cases of rape and acts of lasciviousness in two courts in Taguig.
The Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 69 issued him a non-bailable warrant of arrest on September 19 on the charge of rape at the same time that he surrendered the same day to the first warrant of arrest with bail issued by the Taguig Metropolitan Trial Court Branch. 116.
