PAGBILAO, Quezon — The Luzon power grid will have an additional energy supply of 650 megawatts by the first quarter of 2023 as the new entrant, the Energy World Corporation, disclosed it is in the final construction phase of its gas -fired power plant here.

Graham Elliott, executive director of Energy World Corp., said there is no stumbling block to operating its liquified natural-gas-fed power plant. EWC also operates an LNG terminal hub that could accommodate all sizes of ships carrying LNG in cryogenic or frozen in extremely low temperatures.

"We are looking at initial commissioning of works in April next year," he told reporters here after accompanying investors to the plant site in Ibabang Polo. The EWC said the investors were already interested in joining the project.

Elliott said its 650 MW-power station is in Barangay Ibabang Polo, south of the town center of Pagbilao.

He said getting the power plant to be factored in the Luzon grid would come after the final construction of its two gas turbines, with a total capacity of 400 MW. With its turbine also with another capacity of 250 MW, the power plant has a total capacity of 650 MW.
