The intensified campaign of the government's National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict resulted in the voluntary surrender of 13 sympathizers of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army in Roxas, Palawan recently.
Police Regional Office MIMAROPA director Brig. Gen. Sidney Sultan Hernia said the surrenderers were former communist terrorist group mass base supporters and sympathizers who were recruited sometime between September and October of 2017.
The surrender of the 13 CTG sympathizers was a result of the efforts of the Joint Task Force Peacock under JTG-North/Marine Battalion Landing Team-3 of the 3rd Marine Brigade together with personnel of the 3MCIC, MCIBn; MIG22, NISG-West; Regional Intelligence Unit 4B, PNP-IG; and Palawan PPO Provincial Intelligence Unit, 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company and Roxas Municipal Police Station, in coordination with the Local Government Unit of Roxas and barangay officials of Dumarao.
