Commission on Elections chairperson George Garcia on Wednesday laid down some of his electoral and voting reforms that he wants to implement in the poll body.
In an interview with Daily Tribune's morning program Gising Na!, Garcia said he has a 31-point reform agenda that he wanted to propose before Congress.
Among those is the early voting for the vulnerable sector, as well as overseas voting for Filipinos abroad via the Internet.
Garcia said he aims to have early voting for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, as well as pregnant women, a week before the scheduled polls to give them convenience on voting.
"Maybe our elderly, pregnant women and those with disabilities should be allowed to vote earlier, at least a week earlier than our regular voters so that they will not be disturbed at the same time make it convenient for them to vote," Garcia said.
He added that it is also timely to discuss and decide on the proposal to allow overseas Filipinos to cast their votes through the Internet.
"Maybe we can discuss and decide because it is to ensure that our countrymen abroad will be able to vote more, because if they go to the embassy or consulate, the voting day itself is not a holiday, or they can't leave because their employers don't allow them, or they can't even go out to cast in the mail ballots we send," he added.
