To provide psychosocial support and other interventions for teenage mothers and their families, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has expanded the pilot implementation of Project ProtecTEEN in the National Capital Region and Region 4-A.

ProtecTEEN, launched in Malaybalay, Bukidnon last August, it is the department's latest intervention.

It aims to create a supportive environment for young mothers and their families by empowering them by providing direct social services and assistance, referrals to other agencies, and organizing peer supporters.

The department is set to launch the project in Malabon City, Metro Manila, Antipolo City and in the province of Rizal in the second semester of the concerned local government units, and other partner-agencies at the local level that will indicate their commitment to address the teenage pregnancy issue in our country.

DSWD, through the expansion of Project ProtectEEN, continues to empower young mothers so that they can better perform their roles in society and parenthood even at their young age.
