The Commission on Elections on Thursday stressed that it will still push through with the filing of the Certificate of Candidacy for those who will run for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections slated in December if Malacañang will not sign a law seeking to postpone the polls.

Comelec chairperson George Garcia said that as long as there is no law passed to postpone the elections, they will still continue to accept CoCs by 6 to 13 October.

"To be clear, as long as there is no law that replaces the law that we have barangay elections on 5 December 2022, the filing of the CoC will continue from 6 to 13 October and the start of the election period on 6 October," Garcia said.

According to Comelec Resolution 10831, the election period will be effective from 6 October to 12 December 2022 where the election gun ban will also be in effect.

The filing of CoCs for those who intend to run for Barangay and SK polls will be from 6 October to 13 October, except on 9 October, which falls on Sunday.

The campaign period will be from 25 November to 3 December, while on the eve of election day, a liquor ban will also be in effect until the day of elections.

The voting hours on 5 December will be from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by the canvassing of votes.

A total of 42,046 vacant positions for Barangay Chairman and SK Chairman respectively will be up for grabs, while 294,322 for Barangay Kagawad and SK Kagawad respectively.
