FARSØ, Denmark (AFP) — Oliver Wilson ended a near eight-year wait for a second European Tour title on Sunday with a one-shot victory at the Made in Himmerland event in Denmark.
The world number 748, who played in the 2008 Ryder Cup, fired a four-under-par 67 in the final round to finish on 21-under for the tournament.
He parred the closing hole to hold off Scotsman Ewen Ferguson, who carded a 66 to finish just one stroke back.
Wilson won his only previous Tour title at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in October 2014, having previously lost in four play-offs.
"I was so in control, I feel like everything I've done since then, probably the last 10 years, to get back to here… I said I wasn't going to cry," said an emotional Wilson.
