Defending champion Charly Suarez, a Rio Olympian and three-time Southeast Asian Games champion, collides with veteran Mark John Yap in the first defense of his World Boxing Association Asia super-featherweight title today at the Elorde Sports Centre in Paranaque.
A protege of former national team standout Delfin Boholst, the 33-year-old Suarez, came in at 129.2 lbs during the official weigh-in yesterday.
Yap, who has fought extensively overseas, also tipped the scales at 129.2.
Presented by Cucuy Elorde and Robert Hill, the Suarez-Yap showdown will happen at the Flash Grand Ballroom.
Currently, Suarez, who hails from Davao del Norte, has a perfect record of 11-0 with seven knockouts.
