The City Government of Pasay under Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano is looking forward to a bright and vibrant future by embarking on big-ticket projects to further boost its stature in the metropolis.
Mayor Calixto and his brother Rep. Tony Calixto revealed that they have partnered with a private developer to embark on a large-scale reclamation project that will begin on the first quarter of 2020.
The mayor said the reclamation project, which will be carried out by SM Prime, will help enlarge Pasay’s land area of 18.5 square kilometers, as well as spur economic growth and ensure the city government’s continued delivery of social services to its constituents.
SM Prime Holdings Inc. had already received the official notice from the Pasay City government to proceed with its 360-hectare reclamation project within the city’s municipal waters.
Calixto said the requirements for the start of the project have already been completed as the city has given the developer the go-signal to proceed.

She said Pasay’s territory needs to be expanded in order to be at par with its neighboring cities in the metropolis.
The city is host to many government offices; thus, its size could be considered small compared to the 16 other cities and municipality in Metro Manila.
The mayor said the reclamation project will be connected to the Mall of Asia complex, which likewise sits on a reclaimed land.
The developer has informed the Securities and Exchange Commission in a disclosure that it would develop the raw land reclamation and horizontal development works, with the city government as joint venture partner.
It said it has complied with all the necessary requirements of national agencies, and secured all the required permits and clearances to enable SM Prime to commence with the reclamation project.
With the said project, Calixto said they are expecting thousands of job opportunities to be created and also contribute to both local and national development.
The mayor said residents of Pasay City will be the ones to be considered first in the reclamation project, particularly for skilled workers.
