The amount of damages and losses caused by Typhoon “Ursula” has increased from P782.97 million to P999.40 million, according to the Department of Agriculture.

Updated reports from MIMAROPA, Western and Eastern Visayas, particularly for rice, corn and high value crops, caused the increase in the total damages and losses, the DA said Monday in a statement.

Moreover, the volume of production loss on rice, corn, high value crops, livestock, and fisheries has now reached 17,659 metric tons, affecting 17,165 hectares and 62,197 farmers and fisherfolk. There are also reported damages and losses on agri-infrastructure.

Concerned DA Regional Field Offices (RFO) are crafting their respective rehabilitation and recovery plans for areas affected by the typhoon. Furthermore, the DA RFO are still conducting field validation on the extent of the impact brought by Typhoon Ursula in the agri-fisheries sector.

In addition to the P60 million fund under the Survival Recovery Program of the Agricultural Credit Policy Council, the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation has enough funds to pay for the indemnity of all insured farmers and fisherfolk affected by Ursula.
