After years of courting, veteran setter Rhea Dimaculangan will finally join her brother, Karl, in the Generika-Ayala squad for the 2020 season of Philippine Superliga (PSL).

When Karl Dimaculangan took the assistant coaching post of the Ayala team four years ago, a source told Daily Tribune that the Lifesavers never stopped wooing the national team member to unite the siblings.

And finally, it will materialize when PSL opens the import-flavored Grand Prix this February.

“Her brother has been courting her to join him in the Generika-Ayala team for, I think, four years now,” said the source, speaking on condition of anonymity.

“But Rhea did not say yes back then because she doesn’t want to hear anything from the public and she has been over and done with politics in sport.”

The move to transfer Rhea Dimaculangan to Generika-Ayala began even before the start of the 30th Southeast Asian Games in late November.

But her former team, Petron, confirmed it only after the biennial meet.

“Her contract with Petron will expire by the end of the year so she has not yet signed any contract with Generika,” the source said, adding that Petron is undergoing a revamp in a bid to reclaim the crown it lost in the recent All-Filipino Conference.

“Her decision was accepted by Petron management as she has served the team for two years now.”

Aside from the Sherwin Meneses-mentored squad, F2 Logistics, Marinerang Pilipina and Foton Tornadoes have also shown interests in Dimaculangan.

The former University of Santo Tomas standout playmaker will start training with Lifesavers once her contract with Petron expires on 31 December.
