Operatives of the Manila Police District (MPD) had arrested the so-called “Ngetpa” riding-in-tandem robbery holdup/snatching group during a follow-up operation last Saturday night in Sampaloc, Manila.
MPD director P/Brig. Gen. Bernabe Balba identified the suspect as Adrian Lapuz, alias “Ian,” 20, of R. Papa Street, Sampaloc, while his cohorts who are the subjects of a manhunt are John Albert Buenaflor, alias “Abet,” of M. Natividad Street, Sta. Cruz, Manila and one alias “Nissan,” of Tiago Street, Sta. Cruz.
Police launched a manhunt for the suspects after they robbed businessman Frederick Ng, 44, of Pasay City on 18 December.
Lapuz was arrested following a manhunt at R. Papa Street near the corner of Lerma St., in Sampaloc at about 10:30 p.m.
Based on Ng’s compliant, he was walking along Pedro Gil Street near the corner of J. Bocobo Street when he was blocked by the suspects aboard separate motorcycles at 3 a.m.

Lapuz alighted the scooter driven by Buenaflor, while alias “Nissan” went down his bike, poked a gun at the victim, and declared a hold up.
Taken from the victim were a Balenciaga bag worth P20,000, cash amounting to P200,000, two units of Samsung S8 mobile phones worth P40,000 each and several identification cards.
The suspects hurriedly fled after the robbery and escape toward Taft Avenue, while the victim proceeded to file a complaint.
At the police station, the victim was able to identify the suspects via the rogues’ gallery at the MPD Theft and Robbery section.
